The name of the school was derived from the French word "l'essence" which means "Fuel". So in this case, we regard education as the "fuel" of life. The school started operation on the 17th of May, 1997. It opened its doors to pupils of nursery classes and primary 1 and 2 in September, 1997. From then, the school later continued to expand to all primary classes. The College JSS 1-JSS 3, SS 1- SS 3 was opened in 2005. At Essence Schools, pupils and students are encouraged and supported to excel. One of the most important decisions a parent or guardian will make is the choice of their child/ward's school. Essence Schools has made this decision easier for you. The popularity of our school is not accidental; it is due to careful planning and selection of excellent teaching and non-teaching staff and provision of latest instructional materials and teaching aids. It therefore did not come as a surprise to parents and staff of the school when the House of Representative Committee on Education gave an award to the school for a "remarkable standard in knowledge impartation and effective school administration in 2014". Our results in external examinations (WAEC/NECO), have been excellent over the years and our grandaunts have gone on to excel in higher institutions of learning both in Nigeria and abroad. Today, we have lawyers, doctors, teachers, journalists, IT professionals, bankers, and other striving private business owners.
